I wish this was easy to
discuss, however, it is not. Not because it is a sensitive subject, but
because rabbits seem to have the ability to change sex over night. We have
had this happen more than once. We purchased a breeding pair of Dutch and
named them Romeo & Juliet. We were never able to breed them.
Come to find out Romeo was a doe (he had been sexed by someone in the business
for over 25 years!). Romeo also won Reserve Grand Champion & 1st
Place Jr. Buck at our County Livestock Show.
Below are photos of the
genitals from both a buck and a doe. These are up close and personal to
help distinguish the difference between male and female. Rabbits tend to
be easier to sex the older they are. We hope this helps.

breeding age doe's vulva in contrast to the young doe. The reddish color
indicates breeding maturity.
